1) What type of weather should I expect?

Come prepared for all weather conditions. Early season can have snow, wind and sleet. Mid season can be all that, with days in the 80s and a couple of rain days in the mix. To be safe, bring clothing for all types of weather. Layers are good and can be taken off if it gets too warm.

2) Do you supply the ammo?

No. We supply everything you need except for the guns and ammo.

3) How much ammo should I bring?

You’ll have plenty of targets to shoot, so bring plenty of ammo. Plan on shooting between 200 and 600 rounds per day.  Full metal jacket ammo is not recommended.

4) What are the best rifles to use?

The 17 HMR is the gun of choice. 22 long and 22 mag are also popular. We have fields to accommodate  your center fires as well. Bring the arsenal and be prepared for everything. A good scope and binoculars are recommended.
ARs require brass catchers. There is a limit on center fire guns per platform.

5) What is a Rat Rig?

Rat Rigs are elevated platforms designed for safe, comfortable shooting. They have shooting bags and chairs with plenty of room to move around. They are super stable and give you superior visibility.

6) Are meals included?

Lunch is provided. Pastries and coffee in the am and munchies and cold drinks all day.

7) Will there be other people on the Rat Rig with our group?

No. We try to accommodate individual groups on their own platforms.

8) When is the best time of season for a Sage Rat Hunt?

You can find good shooting from March through the end of May. The best shooting is from mid-April through mid-May.

9) Where do we meet?

We meet at the Hampton Station Cafe. 41700 Hwy 20, Brothers, OR 97712

10) What are the closest cities?

Bend is only 1 hour to the West from camp. Burns is about an hour to the East.
